Giving is not just about making a donation; it is about making a difference

The International Award for Young People (IAYP), known for being an outstanding
guide in the contemporary social realm by catering to the lives of young individuals
not just by creating a platform to reach the zenith of their innate abilities but also
develop skills and a sheer intuition to work towards a better community. As the
saying goes “every charitable act is a stepping stone towards heaven,” the students
of CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai embarked on a gargantuan effort to aid people
who are differently abled to live their dream of making their steps independently with
the most efficient gait possible. With Covid 19 dealing a severe blow to every walk of
life curbing the financial independence of millions, the upsurge in philanthropy was
largely unscathed; thanks to the crowd-funding platform, FUELADREAM whose
liaison with us yielded in raising the funds required to mission out this generous
venture. The support provided by Freedom trust NGO and their dedicated team of
staff deserves appreciation as they paved way for the students to witness one of
their camps for differently abled individuals when they involved themselves in taking
measurements of limbs of the attendees so as to make sure that the prosthetic leg
fits intact and the user can afford to make minimum efforts to move allowing
enhanced mobility. The NGO takes precisely 45 days from the closure of the camp
to deliver the prosthetics to the attendees of the camp followed by a gait analysis
procedure that involves comparing the functions of the prosthetics to expected
patterns of gait and look for deviations. Analysis of the gait pattern will help
determine why these deviations are occurring and formulate their training
procedures, which includes the correction of the deviations. The user of the
prosthetics are contacted after a few years to evaluate if the offered prosthetics
requires a replacement, a common situation if the user is a young child and if they
do, they will be replaced with new prosthetics absolutely free of cost. The noble
endeavour by the students met with great success that not just instilled them with the
passion of humility and service but also a feeling of achievement as their mission
has transformed the lives of people who were in dire need to climb up their lives
independently that reminisced one of the famous quotes which goes like this ““In the
truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved.”
