The three R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle – all help to cut down on the amount of waste we throw away.
They conserve natural resources, landfill space and energy. It is with this motive that the students of
CAIE2 , CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai were given a project on the benefits of recycling. The
students charted an action plan to recycle household materials and recreate beautiful, creative pieces of
art work out of it which is key to ‘Circular Economy’ which is the present global trend and part of the
climate change and waste management initiatives taken by UN. Sustainability is one of the key goals of
the UNEP and the young thinkers were encouraged to come up with innovative ideas to reuse and
recycle waste materials. The result was an array of bright, smart, useful products ranging from multi
purpose rack, piggy bank to wall hangings and pen stand. It was an enlightening and fun activity for all
the students of CAIE2 since learning always enhances with practical application of the knowledge
acquired in classrooms.
