At CPS Global School, we believe that every great reader begins with a simple habit picking up a book and getting lost in its pages. To nurture this love for reading, each of our Primary classrooms, from CIE 1 to CIE 5, features a cosy reading corner filled with comfortable seating and a thoughtfully curated collection of age-appropriate books. These inviting spaces have quickly become some of the most-loved corners in our classrooms. During short breaks, after lunch, or whenever they complete their work early, students naturally gravitate towards these reading nooks, transforming spare moments into opportunities to explore new stories, ideas and adventures.
The impact has already been heartening. When children are free to choose books that interest them, reading becomes a joyful experience rather than a classroom task. These quiet moments not only foster a lifelong love for books but also strengthen vocabulary, language skills, reading comprehension and imagination through regular, self-directed reading. Beyond academics, the reading corner provides a calm and welcoming space where children can pause, unwind, and immerse themselves in a good book.
