Off the Cuff: Thinking Beyond Technology @ CPSGS Anna Nagar

As part of our Inter-House Competition, students took on the challenge of extempore speaking, responding to the thought-provoking topic: “Are We Losing Essential Skills Because of Technology?”

With only a short time to gather their thoughts, participants had to think on their feet, organise their ideas, and present their perspectives with confidence. The topic encouraged them to reflect on how technology has transformed the way we communicate, learn, solve problems, and interact with the world around us. The competition was not just about speaking without preparation. It was an opportunity for students to demonstrate critical thinking, spontaneity, creativity, and effective communication. As students explored both the benefits and possible drawbacks of technology, they were reminded that while technology can make life easier, essential human skills such as critical thinking, communication, creativity, independence, and problem-solving remain invaluable.

The event provided an engaging platform for students to express their ideas, listen to different perspectives, and confidently make their voices heard.

Think quickly. Speak boldly. Question deeply. Go Off the Cuff!
