Wrap It Right: Creativity Meets Craft @ CPSGS Anna Nagar

The Inter-House “Wrap It Right” competition gave students an opportunity to turn a simple task—packing a candle—into a creative design challenge. With their imagination and ingenuity, students explored different ways of wrapping and presenting their candles, paying attention to both aesthetics and functionality.

The activity was more than just about creating an attractive package. It encouraged students to think about design, proportion, precision, material use, and presentation. They had to make decisions about colours, patterns, shapes, and finishing touches while ensuring that their packaging was practical and secure. Such hands-on activities develop important skills that support learning across subjects. Students practise creative thinking, problem-solving, planning, fine motor skills, attention to detail, and decision-making. They also learn to work within given constraints and transform an idea into a tangible product.

“Wrap It Right” reminded students that creativity is not simply about making something beautiful—it is about thinking differently, making thoughtful choices, and finding effective solutions. It was a wonderful celebration of imagination, craftsmanship, and the joy of learning by doing.
