Discovering Urban Conservation with the Birdman of Chennai @ CPSGS Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

CPS animal enthusiasts had the privilege of interacting with Chennai’s renowned Parrot Sudarson, whose remarkable devotion to urban bird conservation left a lasting impression. During the engaging conversation, they explored topics ranging from the impact of climate change on parakeets to his daily conservation efforts and the most memorable moments from Mr Sudarson Sah’s journey. The interaction was enriched by witnessing hundreds of parakeets gathering to feed on rice and peanuts laid out across the terrace, while conversations with his equally dedicated family and volunteers offered insights into seasonal bird behaviour and the commitment required to sustain the initiative. The students left with the inspiring realisation that the sanctuary is far more than a haven for birds—it is a shared space that brings together students, corporate houses, environmentalists, photographers, birdwatchers far and wide, families, and even artists and designers who draw inspiration from parrots for illustrations, traditional silk sarees, and jewellery motifs, reflecting the profound influence of conservation on both community and creativity.
