A Rhodes Scholar from Oxford Connects with CPS Global School (Thirumazhisai) Students via Zoom

Written by cpsglobalblog

CPS Global School recently organized an enriching virtual session for our IGCSE and IBDP students, focusing on global university preparation, profile building, and the key elements required for successful applications to top international universities. The session, conducted via Zoom, offered students valuable global exposure and firsthand insights into highly competitive academic pathways. The session was led by Ms. Josiane Matar, a Rhodes Scholar, PhD Candidate at the University of Oxford, and Head of Academics at HorizonInspire. Drawing from her personal journey to Oxford, Ms. Matar shared how she prepared for admission to world-class universities, built a strong academic and research profile, and balanced academics with leadership, research, and meaningful extracurricular engagement.

Students gained a deeper understanding of what international universities seek beyond grades—intellectual curiosity, research exposure, initiative, leadership, and purpose-driven learning. The interactive format encouraged active participation, with students asking thoughtful questions about university admissions, research opportunities, scholarships, and long-term academic planning. Following the session, the school’s Career Guidance and College Counsellor addressed the students, explaining the concept of a student profile, the importance of early profile building, and structured preparation strategies aligned with IGCSE and IBDP pathways. Students were guided on how to make informed subject choices and build well-rounded profiles tailored to their university aspirations.

The session was highly impactful and motivating, providing students with clarity, direction, and inspiration. CPS Global School remains committed to empowering students through global exposure, expert mentorship, and meaningful academic guidance as they prepare for higher education worldwide.
