Students of CPS Global School had the opportunity to explore a world of personal growth and leadership during an orientation session on the International Award for Young People (IAYP) held on 18 June. The session was conducted by Ms. Poojita, Programme Manager (South), IAYP National Office, India, and was attended in person by the IGCSE students and online by the IBDP Year 1 students. The orientation introduced students to the vision and purpose of the IAYP programme, a globally recognized framework that encourages young people to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and make meaningful contributions to society. Through an engaging presentation, Ms. Poojita explained how the award helps students discover their potential while building confidence, resilience, and a sense of responsibility.
A key highlight of the session was the explanation of the three award levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Students learned about the requirements associated with each level, including participation in Skill Development, Physical Recreation, Voluntary Service, and an Adventurous Journey. As participants progress through the levels, the challenges become more demanding, enabling them to cultivate greater independence and perseverance. The session also emphasized the many benefits of participating in the IAYP programme. Beyond earning a prestigious international award, students gain valuable life skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and time management. The programme encourages young people to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new experiences, and engage actively with their communities.
Ms. Poojita highlighted how successful completion of an IAYP Award can strengthen university and career applications by showcasing commitment, initiative, and a willingness to take on challenges. The programme is not merely an award but a journey of self-discovery and holistic development. Overall, the orientation provided students with a clear understanding of the IAYP framework and inspired many to embark on this rewarding journey.
