Written by cpsglobalblog

The Segregation for Sustainability Workshop, conducted on 27 April 2026 at the school premises, stood as a meaningful stride toward cultivating environmental consciousness among the supporting staff. Organised under the banner of the Élan Wellness Campaign, an initiative led by Senior Secondary International Award for Young People (IAYP) students, the programme reflected a thoughtful blend of student leadership and institutional commitment.

The session was enriched by expert insights from the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research (SRIHER), focusing on practical approaches to waste segregation, sustainable living, and ecological responsibility. Distinguished speakers included Dr. S. Sankar, Professor & Head, Department of Environmental Health Engineering,

SRIHER; Mr. K. Baskaran, Chairman of the Industrial Waste Management Association; and Mr. V.S. Ethiraj of TESS-AMM India Pvt. Ltd., each offering valuable perspectives grounded in real-world application.

Participants were guided to understand that proper separation of biodegradable, recyclable, and hazardous waste not only prevents contamination but also enhances the efficiency of recycling processes, thereby conserving natural resources and reducing landfill burden. The session further underscored the potential of segregated organic waste to be channelled into biogas production, offering a sustainable source of clean energy.

Supported by faculty members and student volunteers of SRIHER and CPS Global, the workshop fostered awareness and inspired collective action toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.
