Our AS-level and IBDP students engaged in an educational visit to the Lanson Toyota dealership facility in Pallikaranai, offering meaningful exposure to real-world industrial practices. The trip, led by Mr Viswanath, brought together elements of physics, chemistry, business and economics, allowing students to observe how classroom learning translates into professional field operations.
Students were particularly struck by the company’s structured training programmes and high standards of efficiency, with the branch servicing around 170 cars daily. This highlighted the importance of discipline, precision, and teamwork in maintaining such operations. The visit also showcased how effective management and organisation contribute to productivity and workplace success.
An especially valuable part of the experience was the emphasis on employee development and motivation. Through initiatives like their competitive skill contests, which are partaken by around lakhs of employees nationwide, Lanson Toyota fosters continuous improvement and engagement among its workforce.
Students also had the opportunity to hear from Mr Shivanka Lankalingam, the Joint Managing Director of Lanson Toyota, who encouraged them to pursue their passions and focus on long-term fulfilment rather than short-term gains. His words of wisdom made students reflect on their own goals and think more seriously about the kind of careers they see themselves in.
