Vowels in English are five ‘a, e, i, o, u’ and today we learnt everything about you!!

The solid understanding of the vowels and their sounds is one of the most important skills in learning a language. Reading is a foundation for all subjects and also influences the child’s ability to write. In order to learn, to read in English, the child must figure out the relationship between sounds and letter. Basically a vowel is a letter representing a speech sound made with the vocal tract open.
Students were given colourful baskets with the vowels labelled on them and a set of picture cards each beginning with sounds of a, e, i, o, u. Kids had a great time matching the vowels with the words. And also they pronounced the word before putting them in the correct vowel basket. Wow!! What a fun learning it was. Children were so excited as they went about pronouncing the words and placing it in the right basket. This simple activity facilitated in the recognition of vowels in a fun and easy way. The sorting activity enabled the students to explore the way vowels are pronounced in a word.
