The basics of letters and words have been taught now and it is time to introduce building sentences that have structure and make sense.
Together as a class we talked about how some construction workers build roads and houses and how they have to follow laws. They can’t just build a house any way they want. They can’t build the house sideways, because that would not make sense. Same idea with building sentences, there are rules to follow for each sentence to hold meaning . We have to bring a group of words together to express the complete thought.
Our tiny tots of ELP3B enjoyed building sentences by reading their favorite fruity words and dropping them in their salad bowl.
For example, instead of saying “The cat jumped.” which could do with more creativity, the children formed sentences like “The big black cat jumped on the fence.” TADA! Super Sentence created!!
