“As creative as a potter’s hand “goes the simile. What the mind thinks the hand executes!
Little hands that engage in messy activities absolutely lose track of time and space. When these early learners actually get down to doing a particular activity rather than just talking about it, they become little “hands on managers “.The activity was sticking a “racing car on the road”. Little hands of ELP 1 were visual learners for the day. They meticulously stuck small racing cars on the letter r which also doubled as a road.
The importance of such a craft activity lies not only in its reinforcement of learning a new letter but also bringing about a spatial sense in children. Where to stick? How far apart to stick? How many more to stick? So when their tiny minds are flooded with these thoughts and they are busy reasoning to themselves , all we have to do is sit back and see “the proof in the pudding “!
