The national symbols of a country represent a unique identity of the country. It incites a deep sense of pride for the people of the country. It is chosen to popularize the particular object and to encourage special preservation efforts.
To inculcate a sense of pride in our children close to Independence Day we did an activity in ELP 3C wherein we introduced the Peacock as the National Bird of India. It is a symbol of beauty, joy, grace and love. It occupies a respectful position in the Indian culture and is protected not only by religious sentiments but also by parliamentary statute.
The children drew and painted it with the eclectic colours of the glorious peacock using the technique of finger painting.
Oh the display of plumage!
