“We delight in the beauty of a butterfly but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty”- a famous adage
“I am a caterpillar” is a picture book by Jean Marzollo which engaged tiny toddlers of ELP 2C to muse the story using story head bands.
The screenplay in which a story is set is important to create a proper understanding or influence in a child. Story head bands are easier and fun to role play. It is comical which kindles the participation of the performer and the audience.
One became the caterpillar, another a cocoon, and someone was the tiny pupa, children fervently interchanged roles to enact the various stages in the evolution of the beautiful flying insect. The engrossment was at an all time high and they just couldn’t wait for their turns!
The concept imbibed effortlessly!
